Teacher Appreciation Week 2018

TAW 2018

We are celebrating and honoring our Cedar Crest teachers and staff on TAW (April 30th - May 4th) for all their hard work. We have a week full of exciting and special events planned for them, and we would like you to be part of this celebration by having your child(ren) participating on Tuesday 5/1 (Flower Day), and Friday 5/4 (Favorite Things Day).

Beside the classroom teachers, we added a staff member to each class to be recognized as well by the students on Flower Day and Favorite Things Day. Please check out the flyers for the Teacher Appreciation Week schedule and the Assigned Staff List.

If you have any questions please let me know.

Yearbook Representatives Needed

If you like taking pictures and putting them into sweet memories then this volunteer opportunity is for you!

Every year the Parent Association of Cedar Crest Academy puts together the yearbook that includes individual portraits, class pictures, and best moments of the year, as well as many fun events. The quality of the yearbook depends on our parent volunteers, so if you enjoy sorting through pictures, picking the best, and organizing them into a photo book, we want you on our yearbook team!

Please consider being part of the yearbook committee by signing up as a representative for your child's class.

Library Clean-Up

We need volunteers each week to help shelve books and clean up the library.  Volunteer slots are available on Wednesday and Friday from 2:30 - 3:30pm.  We require one volunteer per time slot.  Volunteer slots are open for the entire school year (up to June, 2018).

Currently, we need volunteers for May and June.

If you are able to help, please sign up for a volunteer slot.

Grant approval status - January 2018

Approved 2017-18 PA Grants

Thank you to all the parents and staff who took the time to consider what would help our students thrive and applied for PA grants. We had many applications and lots of great ideas to discuss. The PA Board has approved a total of $12,141.02 in grants so far this year, with additional grant applications to come. The money to fund grants comes from dues and the surplus from fundraising (e.g. the October Jogathon after paying for the playground slide). If the list below sparks ideas of your own, please feel free to apply (details on how are here). If you have questions, please contact our Grants Director Sriya Blanco.

Birthday Books

This year we started a new voluntary book donation program for the school library called Birthday Books.  We hope that this will not only help further build our school library, but also foster an excitement about books, as well as provide an opportunity for students to share what they enjoy reading with others.

How it Works:

On or around your child's birthday, your child may bring a new or like-new book from our Amazon wish list to the library.  If your child's favorite book is not listed, they may bring that in.  However, if you are choosing a non-wish list book, please cross-check the donation with the library catalog to make sure the library doesn't already have a copy.

We will then place a nameplate donation sticker on the inside front cover of the book and a "Birthday Books" sticker on the front of the book.  The book will be displayed on the shelf at the front of the library.

If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Nelson at christiann@cedarcrestacademy.org.

I'm excited to share that 112 Ghouls for Schools! collection sheets were received in support of our Box Tops 4 Education fundraiser. This is  1,120  Box Tops!!    Ghost Pops will be delivered today to each class teacher for distribution to their students who turned in a collection sheet.   The best part of this fundraiser was the overall participation by all students. Collection sheets were received by all classes !     Although this was not a class/school competition, I know many would be curious about a more detailed breakdown of which class had the most Box Tops.  Overall numbers:    Preprimary  Collected a total ... read full article
